Bridgette Williams - President |
Bridgette Williams is a Brisbane based counsellor who specialises in supporting people living in larger bodies. Her own lived experience of being in a larger body, coupled with sitting across from people in the counselling room, has made her a passionate advocate for creating environments where all bodies are treated with respect and genuine care. Bridgette first encountered a size inclusive approach to health in her personal life in 2013. Not only did it change her life, but has gone on to shape her career - with Bridgette undertaking a Master of Counselling with the goal of creating a practice that supports people in bigger bodies. As SIHA President, Bridgette is keen to raise the profile of size inclusive practice among health professionals, grow membership and support people living in larger bodies to access respectful, compassionate and quality care. |

Georgia Bates - Secretary |
I have recently finished my Master of Dietetics, and my passion is to help improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of people in the community. I do this by educating and supporting realistic and sustainable health behaviours that are weight-neutral and evidence-based. I was a straight-sized personal trainer who had experienced bulimia nervosa throughout my adolescent and earlier adulthood years. During my recovery, I was introduced to a size-inclusive approach to health, and began to adapt it into my personal and professional life. Though it wasn’t easy, I have now learnt to accept and appreciate my now larger body. I have experienced weight-discrimination when accessing healthcare services and throughout my academic/professional journey. This sparked my commitment to identifying and addressing the gaps people living in larger bodies experience. I am excited to be SIHA’s 2024-25 Secretary and to be involved in an organisation that shares my passion and dedication. I am excited to be working with the other leaders and volunteers to promote size-inclusive health and advocate for people in larger bodies. |
Hi, I’m Claire and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a non-diet dietitian in Boorloo (Perth) and I specialise in working with people with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. I have a special interest in working with queer clients and neurodivergent clients. I began my non-diet journey way back in 2014 and it’s been both personally and professionally life changing. I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to the amazing work that SIHA does. |
